The Centre offers a unique program that assists internationally trained professionals and tradespeople to find work related to their skills or professional background. Participants are given the opportunity to establish work search strategies, while receiving ongoing support. This intensive, hands-on, four-week program uses structured activities and a group support system for a customized work search.
 


EMPLOYMENT GOAL SETTING WORKSHOPS

Throughout these workshops, participants will have an opportunity to:

Assess their educational equivalency to Ontario's Educational System
Participate in the vocational evaluation assessment, in order to:
- identify career options
- facilitate career change if appropriate
- develop personal profiles
- identify employability skills
Identify skills that are transferable to the Canadian labour market
Establish goals and various career options
Learn how to adapt to change
Practice effective communication and assertiveness techniques
Participate in confidence building exercises

SELF-MARKETING WORKSHOPS

During the three intensive weeks in the Self-Marketing workshops participants will:

Develop a professional resume

Learn to write effective cover letters

Create self-marketing business cards
Broaden networking circle
Target the hidden job market
Research companies
Develop effective telephone skills
Access the Internet for electronic job search
Prepare and develop interview skills and strategies
Improve communication skills

EMPLOYER OUTREACH AND FOLLOW-UP

CITPT helps every step of the way.

Upon completion of the program, participants work closely with an Employer Consultant to follow-up on leads they have created during their three weeks in the Self-Marketing workshop.
Participants still seeking employment after completing the program will continue to receive ongoing support.

WORK PLACEMENT

Get Canadian workplace exposure!

Participants who have completed the four week program, and require further hands-on experience, may be eligible for unpaid work placement or mentoring.
