What is Newcomers
Connecting To Trades Apprenticeship Resources NeCTAR?If
you are new in Ontario and trying to re-enter your skilled trade
then NeCTAR will be able to help you.We are developing new resources
for employment and settlement counselors to be able to:
- Help you understand how the apprenticeship system works in
Ontario
- Provide you information and advice related to having your trade
credentials recognized in Ontario
- Guide you through the steps of the certification process
- Refer you to upgrading and training to help you meet any gaps
in your skills and experience
- Refer you to certification examination preparation supports
and programs
- Inform you on the local labour market in your trade sector
- Orient you to your trade in Ontario
We are currently researching and developing these resources and need
to hear from you to ensure that NeCTAR meets your needs. You can
help us to do this by:
- Sharing your experience, concerns and information needs in
a focus group
- Registering for a "pilot" workshop on Apprenticeship
Trades Resources in your specific trade
Newcomers Connecting to Trades Apprenticeship Resources (NeCTAR)
initiative is coordinated by COSTI in partnership with ACCES and
JVS Toronto and with support from the Consortium of Agencies Serving
Internationally Trained Persons (CASIP). NeCTAR is funded by the
Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities
